A coach will then take you on a tour of Sydney, stopping at Christ Church St. Lawrence. This is where Benjamin Towndrow married Rhoda Brooks on the 5th April 1851. Benjamin was born in 1807 at Bedford, England, and was the first Towndrow to arrive in Australia.

The coach will then travel 2 hours north to Newcastle where guests can book into their accommodation, “Warners at the Bay”.

The motel is only a 3 minute stroll to the Willows Uniting Church, where most of the weekend’s activities will take place.

Saturday 29th September – Gather at the Willows Uniting Church, Warners Bay to catch up with Towndrow’s from all parts of the world including, England, Canada and the United States, as well as the various Australian Towndrow families.

All Towndrow families can trace their roots back to either one of the 2 Benjamin’s who lived in Derbyshire, England in the early 1700’s. Either Benjamin Towndrow (b1704) married Dorothy Bunting in 1728, or Benjamin Towndrow (b1684) who married Anne Grannah in 1713. View the giant Family Tree compiled by Art Towndrow from New Mexico. Ralph Towndrow of England will update us with all of his latest research. There will also be presentations by Towndrow families from all parts of the globe.

In the evening, it would be our pleasure if you could attend the dinner and celebrate the TOWNDROW name.

Sunday 30th September – We join our coach again for a morning tour of Newcastle’s points of interest including: Fort Scratchley, Christ Church Cathedral, King Edward Park, the beaches, as well as the Harbour.

We will also stop at the Sandgate Cemetery to visit a Towndrow family grave. The grave includes:  Rhoda Towndrow (nee Brooks) (1821-1896), her son Job (1853-1924) and his wife Elizabeth (nee Norman) (1854-1931). Job was Benjamin and Rhoda’s only surviving child, who moved to Newcastle in the mid 1800’s. Job married Elizabeth Norman at Wickham in 1876.
